SPOT 6/7

SPOT 6/7 Satellite Imagery

Spot the Difference

With SPOT 6 and SPOT 7, the SPOT series is entering a new era. Together, the two satellites form an Earth-observation constellation with highly responsive sensors that increase acquisition capacity and simplify data access.

While retaining SPOT’s trademark 60-km wide imaging swath, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 offer users a number of key improvements:

  1. 1.5-metre-resolution natural-colour products, orthorectified as standard
  2. Multi-year coverage of entire national territories
  3. Daily revisits to any point on the globe
  4. Ability to accommodate last-minute tasking requests
  5. Billing per area of interest

Built with a 10-year lifetime warranty, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 assure continuity of high-resolution data services through to 2024.

The Big Picture

SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 are designed to cover wide areas in record time, making it possible to regularly update national map series free from the constraints imposed by seasonal conditions.

  1. The constellation covers up to 6 million every day, an area larger than the entire European Union.
  2. Four weather forecasts per day are integrated automatically into the tasking process to optimize efficiency. As a result, 60% of images have less than 10% cloud cover.

Designed for 1:25 000 scale Mapping

With a location accuracy better than 10 metres (CE90) and a resolution of 1.5 metres, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 are the ideal solution for national 1:25 000 map series.

Highly responsive

From 24/7 satellite tasking through to data delivery, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 offer increased operational performance:

  1. Instant Tasking, available 24/7 via Geostore
  2. The tasking plan is updated every 4 hours to accommodate urgent requests and crisis management.
  3. The satellites’ agility keeps acquisition conflicts to a minimum and allows them to switch targets in record time.
  4. Automatic production ensures products are quickly available—less than 1 hour after data are downlinked to the receiving station.

In crisis situations, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7’s responsiveness supports emergency management agencies and relief teams on the ground.
